Deja vu all over again...

Yep.

Back around 1990 when i was in college, I saw an FJ sitting in a showroom. Something about it was just perfect. Decent sized fairing, stylish without being trendy, comfy to sit on, black as night... and 1200cc! That was the "one". I was pretty sure of it anyway.

So years past, graduated, got hitched, and sold my trusty but dog slow BMW 650LS with paniers like suitcases. It was time for some real heavy metal. Unfortunately the realities of entry level jobs and student loans put the new 93 FJ way out of reach, but there was a great deal on a yuppie owned 86 with 13k and almost perfect everything, and the red and white goes great with my black V-Pilot.

Fast forward to about a week ago. We're feeling a bit more mortal now. No more wheelies (one was enough), 100mph commuting,  trips to Florida and Michigan, pondering the piles of shattered glass in the roadway down Rt 1. The once spiffy 86 sits in the driveway like a tombstone. But I still keep it around and it keeps us in the coveted "two wheeler's" club.

Then it happens. Midnight blue 89 FJ1200 with 4300 miles listed 20 minutes from my house.

Here we go again...

I blame eBay.

Don't blame eBay because you are getting smarter and gaining wisdom. Kudos for surviving! Welcome Skiv.  Pat

Hey Skivvy!

I know exactly what you are experiencing!  The first time, I REALLY fell in love with the FJ was back in 1987 when I walked into the Yamaha showroom.  :wacko1:  Three years goes by...and one day I found myself skimming through the local paper and found the EXACT SAME bike advertised.  I bought it.  I loved that bike!  Five years later, I sold it--stupidly and regrettably.  That bike was babied and in mint condition.  I still see it running around today--thrashed and beat.  In the meantime I thought I would replace it by buying a 2006 650 Classic.  Although I enjoy the bike and still have it, it was NOT the same.  Last year I found a '93 in near new condition.  It was a rare find.  The price was right so I bought it.
Life is too short--buy it!
