HELLO GUYS AND GIRLS
Iam doing a front wheel mod on my FJ and I have noticed that the spacer between the bearings is going to be a little shorter.Does anybody know if this will cause a problem.I bought a 89 FZR1000 wheel by mistake and I had it machined for the right bearings, but I have noticed that the long spacer in the middle of the wheel is about sixtenth in inch terms to short. When you look at the old wheel it is snug up against the bearings.Everything I have measured seems to be really close between both wheels since my FJ is also a 89.I would appreciate any help.
THANKS
BUDDY

you may find you will put undue pressure on the inner race of the bearing.
If you could make up that difference with a washer or two that would prevent undue stress
If it's not broken, fix it anyways

You need to have a new spacer made up, The spacer between the bearings is there to locate the wheel load on the axle, spacer, bearings and outbound spacers making the entire assembly rigid. It should be easy enough to figure out how long the spacer needs to be. Using machinist calipers measure the distance between the inside of the newly machined bearing surfaces of your wheel. Also check to see if the wheel bearings you are using have any offset between the inner and outer races. If the inner race is wider than the outer race simply double that dimension and subtract that from the measurement that total from the spacer and you should be good. Personally I would add .010 thousands to that dimension to ensure the bearings are loaded properly.... JMO
