I just purchaced replacment brake rotors for my 84 FJ 1100, thy are not cast like the OME type but thinner solid types about 6 mm thick
and slotted, they also fit Virargo/FJR 1300. Will they fit without any mods , eg shorter bolts?.

Ham....are you sure you got the right rotors........I think you have later model FJ rotors there.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

Harvey, I rechecked with store they are a direct bolt on to a host of Yamy models They fit do FJ 1200 ABS rear ,but not front as are of floating type.
As the new disks are 5mm thick opposed to 7mm OME and if mounting holes are blind, shorter bolts may have to be used. I cant check my wheels as they are at repairers having new tyres fitted.

I checked Haynes manual, 86 fj 1200 have same solid rotors front and rear as on my fj 1100, but later models have solid disk rear but floating front disks.
Thinking about manufacture of these solid rotors, replica cast cast ventilated disks would be expencive to manufacture, hence making them from solid solid steel and reducing thickness , because they are not cast honycombed discs makes sence.

I believe '84 thrugh '87 used ventilated disks front and rear.  '88+ got solid front rotors, but the ventilated rear rotor stayed throughout (at least till '93).

The thickness of the rotor won't affect the mounting bolts since they hold the disc carrier, not the rotor.

If they fit, then use them!

Graham,

Aftermarket discs to replace the ventilated type are solid & thinner. I used one the back of my '92 without problems. See the FJOC catalogue:
