Stupid city

This city is redicilous, if you work anywhere in downtown or midtwon area of NY, all the streets are designated as commercial parking and you cannot park legally within a 2 mile radius. All the bikes in my area take their license plates off but still they manage to write me one every week for the past three weeks.. so I finally got my motorcycle cover.. we'll see what these a$$holes gonna do now!

What will they do?  Easy. They will put a small razor cut in your new cover so they can see your license plate.....You will not be happy.

Take your plate off.  That's why God invented nylon wing nuts.

Taking the plate off or using a cover may or may not work.

Alternative solution - go all license plate Ju Jitsu on them.

Go onto the web, look up the plate design for another country, I like something obscure like, Aruba.

Use a high qualty color printer and create an Aruban license plate for yourself. Either mount on top of your plate with the aforementioned wing nuts. Or, print on heavy stock boards, attach magents with glue to the back, and pop onto your plate when parked.

I would modify the plate number a bit to make it unlikely that it would be genuine, do not need to make another misearlble by their getting your tickets.

Violla - The get your plate and try to chase down a fine in another country if they even bother to move forward. I would have 5-6 fakes.

They won't do that, that's property damage and I can sue their ass for that!

Terryk - I wonder what the repercussions of that are. Is that the same as not having a plate or worse.

I suspect that you can do whatever you want to the plate while the vehicle is not running and parked.

Yes when parked on private property, No when it's parked in the Public right of way (street)

Can't or least it is very tough, to beat City Hall.  To deliberately alter plates would set yourself up for more trouble.

If your vehicle has no plate, or presumed fraudulent plate, won't they just call for a "tow" ?  Most of the time for bikes this means that they put a chain around the bike and lift it.  Resulting damage and storage charges and fines may not be to your liking.

Well for damages I can sue the towing company or the city. I heard stories of bikes that were towed and got dropped in the process and the towing company had to pay for damages which covered the fines ten times over

Do you really want to chance going through all that?

Many of the parts that would be damaged are obsolete, you know...
