G'day,

I have finally got the bike running close to just right, have been taking it around the neighborhood, but after applying the rear brake a few times, the chain adjuster on the brake side of the bike becomes loose.  The locknut is still "locked", the axle is tight.

I looked in the manual and it mentions nothing that I might have missed.  The chain is new, so too the sprokets, and before riding I have adjusted both tensioners to exactly the same position (I used vernier calipers)  The brake is secured properly.

I was wondering if others have come across a similar problem, or am I missing something?

cheers, Gareth

Did you use a torque wrench?

IIRC, the value on the rear axle nut is fairly high.

Well you guys were right, I checked my manual's torque settings, as stated, 110!
When I was tightening it I was almost lifting the bike off the stand!  Anyway, seems to have fixed the problem!  :yahoo: I just had never come across that before...

The bike is getting closer and closer, occasional drips of petrol from the carbs, but I am hoping regular use might solve that, or until I buy some carb bits from RPM racing -great business!

i know I am comitted now, I just bought it a $185 Yuasa battery! :shok:

two weeks it goes in to be road worthied, (made legal) and then I will be happy.

Thanks for the tip!

Gareth....yes that has always been my torqueometer for the rear axle...... If you are starting to lift the rear of the bike of the ground....its tight enough.
