 :wacko3:ok.....here goes.......

been reading up on the 17" front wheel swap, but, me being me,...i gotta do shit the hard way...

i actually LIKE the concept of the anti-dive on my 85, and was wondering, if there is a 17 inch front that will bolt onto the a/d style forks..i know that this will limit my options for brake calipers, but i have a way around that.....

also, i have played with the a/d units before...(yamaha had these on the 1st generation venture touring bikes), and after a few tweaks, and a RELIGEOUS cleaning, was actually able to get them working to my liking.........hey, i figger, i got em, why not try to improve em before i totally write em off, and do a front end swap.....

PROBABLY

Almost anything is possible nowadays depending how much money you want to put into it. But you could probably find a 17inch with the correct with and then just machine parts to fit the forks.
Life behind bars - is actually quite thrilling

The A/D is CRAP.
No matter how well you think they are working, they are still CRAP compared to properly sprung forks with possibly some cartridge emulators.

Put a 17" front wheel on that FJ and prepare to be totally amazed at the handling transformation.  It's such an amazing difference, anti-dive will never enter your mind again.

Upgrading to a later model wheel and fork sliders is very easy and more that wortht he money.  It's still by far the most impressive mod I've done to my '85.

Stop thinking, just do it!  :-)

yeah.... i know i should,....the reward is in the challange, so to speak.....im not worried about keeping the bike original, i just like to tinker, and ultimately, make people scratch their heads and go..."huh??"

Well, there you go! Sounds like a perfect winter project :rofl2:

the absolute best damper rod forks suck giant turds compared to the shittiest cartridge forks.

get some late model forks/17" wheel...update them with proper springs, a nice (cheap) set of 4 piston monoblock calipers w/ 14mm master cylinder and some honda cartridge internals.

you wont be able to wipe the smile off your face every time you think you hit a bump in the road.

(embrace the new tech cause it really works)

KOokaloo!
