How tight should the intake manifold's bolts be?

Hey guys,

Ive tried searching and googling, and looking through the Clymers and Haynes, but no such luck.  Does the old philosophy: 'tighten them so that they are tight,....but not too TIGHT!...'  apply here?

Or is there a specific torque wrench setting used here?

Hi Paul,

From the Yamaha Service manual, I found this chart of general torque specs.  Hope this helps.

Or listed on this chart as carb joints....

Looks to be at 7.2 Ft Lbs

That table helps alot! I also wondered if ANY of the bolts that thread directly into the aluminum casings/engine parts had a high range of torque values...  they dont.  I was just going to tighten them the same as the cam chain tensioner..... It would have been fine. With that table I see now that the settings are just based on the size of the nut/bolt going into the threads of the aluminum engine.
