Greetings from Poland! Hi!

I'm FJ1100-47F '85 rider from 6 years

I can say, I'm quite experienced in FJ engine repairs - I replaced gearbox and both chains, also measure every clearance I could

All in 2008.
Cause I still ride, I guess the renovation was succeed.
This year I want to give my bike new paint - of course as close as possible to original.
The only doubts is I want to do it by myself

I hope I can be helpful here, and I count for some advices too

Welcome Jarek. I would agree that if it's still running doing all that work in 2008, you did a fine. Sure is rewarding to be able to do that kind of work yourself -eh?

Maybe this will helpful for you: if you want only change gearbox or starter absorbers (whithout replacing primary chain and without disassembling cylinder head) you can do it by opening only bottom part of crankcase. You have to remember about one screw closest to oil pump. This is the only screw which you will not able to tighten by torque wrench.

I also want to say thanks to Randy from RPM who gave me some good info via email about the the difference between the early and late model shift forks, which are the cause of the 2nd gear problem.I now realise that there are extensive discussions already on this site...If only i had used the search feature a bit more....
