Hello Everyone,

My name is Jeff. I have been riding motorcycles since 4Th grade when my dad brought me home a Yamaha JT1 60 mini enduro.

I purchased an 1988 FJ1200 about a month ago. Yep... she has a Canadian Vin and is in excellent shape. I have been commuting 60 miles round trip to work getting the feel for her. What a sweet bike. I can't get enough of her. Just the other day I was coming home from work and a nice fellow on a screaming Harley came up along side me and passed me like I was standing still.  I am 48 years old and over weight. Don't get me wrong I always take it easy. Moms in minivans with kids pass me, kids on the road rockets pass me never a problem. For some strange reason when that Harley passed me I immediately reverted back to 1985 racing my IT200 in the Scrub Pine Enduro. I rolled the throttle and closed a 50 yard gap in 3 seconds and came up six inches from his back wheel. It was the first time I actually used my horn. What a great feeling. What a great bike. Looking forward to this website and information.

Current bikes... 1988 FJ1200....1969 DT1 250.....2003 Big Bear 400 ATV

i dont think i would have rolled off the throttle until he was looking at my tail light.... but alas... if ya makes ya feel better the only reason he passed you in the first place was because he has loud pipes..... he probably does the same move on kids riding bicycles

Hey Jeff

Harley's have the same effect on me...Years ago..minding my own business, stopped on pole position at a red light, sitting on a "tweaked" rz250, a very noisey Harley pulled up next to me with a very large, hairy tattooed dude astride.I gave him a friendly nod...he looked at me ,down at my bike and back at me, and gave me a sneer and a slow shake off his head :nea:.He then looked ahead, put both feet down, lowered his position and started revving the Harley in anticipation of the changing light.I'm thinking.....whatever...The lights changed and off he roared....I stayed behind..We both got caught on pole position at the next red light. And the much the same thing with more determination from Mr Harley rider to show me just how "fast" his machine was.I'm thinking "you gotta be kidding."
Next set of lights much the same except I'm thinking " right you wanker..."
Lights changed and off we went......250 2stroke vs Harley....thrill off acceleration....1st (byebye Mr Harley),2nd(now where did he go?)3rd( I thought we were racing) 4th (oh crap! I'm doing 180k in a 60 zone) ,downshift...heavy brake back to a legal speed......VRROOOMMM!!!! slightly angry lookin Mr Harley flys past.......riding normally for a few seconds....eeehhhooohhheeehhhooohhh...red and blue lights pulling me over!!!!!!! :dash2: :dash2: :dash2:...learned my lesson :cray:
Ride safe and cheers!
Jeff P
