No power to anything after charging battery

After a winter of no use, the battery was dead (I had forgotten to plug in my trickle charger). So, I plugged in the charger. After a couple of hours, lights would come on and dash indicators too, barely cranking though. Waited a few more hours and now - no lights or anything! Checked the fuses and they are all ok. The ignition switch seems ok too (continuity test across the battery goes from none to closed circuit when I turn the key).

Any ideas? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

New battery

Don't argue or question, just get a new battery.

Didn't argue or question - just got a new battery. That did the trick. (I think they robbed me for $105.00 though).

Now on to the leaking fuel that suddenly appeared....

Thanks for the help. Any thoughts on the leak? I can see the hose spewing fuel from the bottom of the bike. Do I need to take the fuel tank off? Will it be obvious what the hose was supposed to connect to?

At a guess i would say carb overflow, stuck float maybe, ,
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

For $105, I hope you got the gold-plated AGM model...      :shok:

Here is the one I got of ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/UTX14-YTX14-BS-Yamaha-FJ1200-FZR1000-Motorcycle-Battery-/270775248923?pt=US_Batteries&hash=item3f0b76681b

Has a 2 year warranty. I also got the Battery Tender Jr. to keep it charged until I get the bike ready..

New battery.... Just replaced mine, AGM for about 60 bucks. no kick starter, no choice. To old to push.... I carry a small set of jumper cables. I think they are for ATV and motorcycle use sold at local discount auto store in the 10 - 12 dollar range. Light duty but enough to handle 15 amps or so.
As a note if you order an AGM they can be sent through the post office cause they are sealed and the battery for the FJ is under the weight limit.
