Here in West Oz, there are two classes of motorcycle licence, one for upto 250cc, and an open class licence.

My youngest offspring has had his 250cc class licence for over a year now, and is now entitled to sit his open class licence, which he will be doing tomorrow on the FJ!  Forecast for tomorrow is rain and thunderstorms, BTW.

Today we practiced emergency stopping, and U-turns in the rain.  FJ handled it all very well, nicely balanced, especially with the 17" wheel at the back.

Very cool, Bill. It's a big responsibility for us fathers to teach our kids important details of riding. My dad taught me a few things that stuck in my mind and kept me alive. The most important were:

- You are invisible
- Always scan and expect the unexpected (MSF calls it the "What if..." game).

Please, no.  We tried that karma points/ popularity contest crap.  let's not revive it.  This is not Facebook.  We are all 'friends' in a manner of speaking, and besides, if you 'like' something someone says, here's a thought, say "I like that" or "Cool" or  :good2:

The only riding tips my old man gave me were how to do a doughnut and then do a burn out through it facing the direction you have come from, so you dont get lost in the woods.

Saved my ass a number of times whilst on missions through the pine forrests on my avgas fed YZ80. Ahhh, good times.
Life's pretty straight without twisties.

Passed!  Part of the test was in the rain.
That's 3 sons who now ride big bikes. One rides a FZR1N, another a ZX12R.

Junior now gets to ride the FJ a lot, and I am relegated to my 1200cc Kawis.
