Trip to Paris and London Last Week (+ pics)

No, I didn't drive the FJ there. It was my wife's birthday and our anniversary last week, so I arranged the special trip - just my wife and I.

Seems I might still be a little too "American" and embarrased my wife a couple times. You know, that crap like, "no, you put your fork on this side, and when you use your knife you put it on this plate" or "don't pour your orange juice in THAT cup." My wife seems to go overboard on other people's perception. Oh well. The hotel in Paris had one trash can, and only had room enough to put one empty Coke bottle. We saw the Eiffel Tower, and went to the top. MAN, that's a lot higher than you think!!!

Then we took the high-speed Eurostar train to London. 186 MILES PER HOUR. VERY fast, but a very impressively smooth ride. We saw Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, London Tower Bridge, etc. A lot of walking, though.

It's good to be home where it's nice and quiet... until I crank up the FJ to ride to work in the morning.  :good2:

Strange sculptures in Paris:

I've been in a meeting like this before.

Bad gas?

Here's a painting in "The Louvre" - a man with a machete stuck into his head with blood trickling down. Very strange.

Thanks for letting us travel vicariously through you, nice perspective. I've never seen the view from the top of the tower, it's more interesting!

Here are some other pictures I took in London.

Seems to be a problem with people running on top of roofs there:

Also, if you ever have the urge to park your car in the MIDDLE of the road in London... don't. :sarcastic:

More pics from Paris.

This is me in front of the Arc de Triomphe. Note the traffic circle has no lanes. It was an insane free-for-all. When traffic was heavy, there were busses, cars, scooters everywhere battling for position. CRAZY. They charge admission to go through an underground tunnel and come up in the center of the monument. I suppose you could just run across the traffic circle to get there, but you will most likely get run over.

A couple more views from the top of the Eiffel Tower

The Mona Lisa. This painting was a MUCH smaller than I expected. Don't waste your time to go see it.

Dominos delivers!

Pain in the WHAT? sandwich shop? Not sure I want to eat there... :rofl2:

Our Paris hotel room's only trash can. Note: If you put one empty Coke bottle in it, it's nearly full.

I've never seen a "Z1000SX" but it sure looks sweet. I love the hand warmers - they look toasty! :good2:

They didn't charge when I was in Paris, and the view down to the on road mayhem is phenomenal.
Shame you missed it.  9 lanes of assorted traffic sort of going in the same direction around this monument.
7 different roads leading into this massive roundabout and THEY have the right of way!!!
This happens to be the only roundabout in France with this rule.
Amazing that tow trucks and ambulances aren't waiting right next to it all day long.

Cheers,
Arnie
