Hi folks.  Anyone ever take apart their headlight?  The adjusting mechanism inside has come apart allowing the reflector to move around inside.  If i can get it apart I can fix it and avoid buying another.

It has 3 metal clips holding the glass to the plastic and some type of adhesive holding it together. I tried prying it apart with a screwdriver and already flaked off a chunk of glass. I thought i'd check here before I completely destroy it.  Any help would be greatly apprecciated

Thanks

I was thinking along the same lines many years back for the same reason.  I don't think there is any way to open up the light without destroying the lens.  I opted to picked up another light assembly used from a forum member for fairly cheap.

Perhaps a heat gun and a putty knife.  A screwdriver is probably not a very good prying tool on glass.

+1. Not tried an FJ but this works for composite car headlight housings. I have a headlight and fairing stay/brace/frame off an '89 I think, '86 likely different?Doug
