Cam Chain Adjuster

Working on my 1314 kit.  Got a new cam chain from Randy (THANKS!!).  Replaced the non adjusting side of the cam chain guides.  The Adjusting side looked good.  When replacing the adjuster, was unable to push the adjuster all the way in when totally collapsed.  Had to keep the bolt backed off some, then insert and tighten the allen bolts, then tighten the adjuster bolt.  Seem really tight. bu the engine does turn OK with a wrench. 

Am I in trouble with tensioner going in so hard?

You need to install the tensioner without the center bolt and spring installed. Unlock the one-way stop and fully compress the plunger. Install the tensioner into the engine and then install the spring and center bolt.

The way you did has the chain over tightened and it will break after a short amount of time after it wears through both of the chain guides.

I have seen this many times on engines people have brought to me after the cam chain breaks.
