..... horn relay

..... I see there is a write-up on relays for the headlight.
is there one for the horn?
.. If using a 30amp relay, it looks like the 30 is for the power coming in from the fuse box or battery, 85 is the ground, not sure if 86 or 87 goes to the wire coming from the switch go to the horn. and that leaves one open.
                                           thanks, Jeff

Its basically the same, using only one relay.

If my memory serves me, the power from the battery comes into terminal 30 and out terminal 87 to the horn(s).  The two existing stock horn wires go on terminals 85 and 86.  Then just ground the horn(s) to the frame.

Meh, upgrade the motor.  Using the horn means that you have to wait for them to react.  Using the motor means you just wait for the engine to perk up, so obv money spent best there :)

Mr. Bean, please post a pic or 2 of your horn installation. I tried for several hours to cram this thing into the steering head area, and I I ended up with was cut knuckles.  Not love nor money was getting that thing under my fairing.

...... Thanks Guys,... This is where I am at... I have the Hank Scott 1349 big bore kit. But, not installed yet.  I just pick-up the body parts that I had painted,.... royal blue with two small white strips going down the middle.
.... While I have all the body parts off, I am rewiring the bike.
because, I have the harness going thru the frame, I had to cut the harness into near the neck.

... I have replace the turn signal switch and the starter switch boxs to FZ1's.
.. I have the headlights wired to the turn signal switch, the Left side is low beam,  neutral is off the Right side is high beam. [so far so good ] the switch is getting direct power from the battery, so, I can turn it on and off without the key.
........The fan that is on top of the motor, is wired to the low and high beam switch. [off and on] also, getting direct power from the bettery.

.. the horn is very weak, [even getting direct power from the battery]. What I would like to find is, a horn that sounds like the .. roadrunner......... with a relay or the horn kit. If I knew I would get a better sound [louder] with the horn kit vs the relay, using the same stock FJ horn. The kit would be the way to go.
.... for the truck horn .. LOL.. no place to put it.

.... andyb, that was good, I can not remember, the last time I had to us the horn..............O Well !!

Same thing happened to me.  No matter how I mounted it, it interfered with the steering.  I had already installed the easternbeaver relay and harness to the conventional location, so I said fuck it, and sent the Stebel back and bought a low tone car horn at Napa for less than $10.

Hey Jeff, HSR big block eh? Did you get the new 84mm Wiseco pistons or the conventional Ross pistons?
The Wisecos are a 12-1 compression ratio, the Ross are lower @ 10.5-1.
If you got the Wisecos, you gonna be ok on pump gas?  What rods are you gonna run? XJ1250?

Sorry for the thread drift. Pat

....... Hi Pat,... The kit, has been setting in my living room now, for about a month.
..I am  trying to get everything else done before I have the motor worked on.
Yes, Wiseco pistons.
.. I am not sure, how far.....or I should say, how much $$... I am going to spend,.... this is nickel and dimming me to death.

I installed mine where the air box was.  It's bolted to where the top bolt goes though the sub-frame into the top of the air box.

Even being installed under the seat, at 139db it's still really damn loud.  Loud enough to get one dumb ass cager to throw the cell phone he was talking on out the window.

You can separate the compressor from the trumpets and run a hose between the two.  Just keep the compressor vertical.

carsick

Oh man, that is so very very cool. Right now I'd do better throwing a phone to get attention! My horn must be lacking voltage, it is pitifully weak. The relay plus this should be a nice improvement.

I used the FIAMM Freeway blasters, one Hi and one Lo tone each, on both the FJ and the FJR.  Much easier fit on the FJR, more room and it already had two horns from the factory.  I got the horns to fit under the fairing on the FJ.  Had to shorten one bracket.  Its tight and not much room before a mis-positioning starts hitting.  And you have to move them out of the way to change the headlight bulb.

But they rock as far as decibels.  Cagers heads snap around when they hear it, as they start changing lanes without signaling or looking.
