How do these plugs look to you?

Bike only has 19k on it, but these plugs look awfully oily to me. Any ideas, comments, concerns, suggestions? I've got a lot pulled of the bike already, so i would be ready to tear down the engine completely, i just dont want to.

5 plugs.....what the????

The first one looks not too bad.....maybe a touch rich, but no sign of oil. The rest look wet and rich to me.

Were they fresh plugs, removed straight after a high speed run with the engine shut off at high rpm and bike coasted to a stop?

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

The 4th one was the only one that looked unacceptable to me.  Yup, 2,3 and 5 ?? were rich but not dramatically so.   Other purists may disagree.

Lean out the carbs a bit (and/ or check for mice having made a home in your air box, thus clogging it a bit, or possibly you may need to just clean/ change the filter.)

i have no idea how long these plugs were in for. i bought the bike and it only ran, but i never got a chance to ride it since the clutch MC needed rebuilt. even then, just a little throttle and it would die. I don't even know if the valves were ever adjusted.

if you were in my situation.... would you just rebuild the head and make it winter project?
OR... leave the engine alone, rebuild the carbs and continue on my way.

oh, one plug is a repeat but i forget which one.

With 19k, clean the carbs good, check the valve clearances and sync the carbs...... then ride for a lot of miles, and repeat.  These things are good for a couple hundred k-miles if taken care of.   :drinks:
