How to identify FZR1000 wheels, anyone?

I am searching in all the normal places but some sellers have wheels identified for an FZR1000 but don't know the year. Do the wheels have unique markings/part numbers that I can use to weed out the wrong years and get the 87/88 wheels? This data will also be helpful for other that have not contracted Moditis. Thanks in advance.

I can'y help you on the stampings, sorry I took mine off when I polished the rim but, got a extra front axle laying around?
If the bearings are installed, the 87/88 uses the same 15mm axle as the FJ's. The 89+ later years use a 17mm axle.

Thanks Pat, the 1mm bushings are my other choice for opening up wheel choices.

Now that I am thinking of it....You polished off the cast markings?  Damn man!!! you really can polish!!! keep the grinder away from Pat...the bike will turn dust....

Just looked at my front FZR1000 wheel. No special markings that I see, looks exactly like my 17x3" FJ wheel. Says "J17XMT3.50 DOT JAPAN F42" around the circumference of the left side. One spoke says Yamaha. My stock FJ wheel says" J17X3.00MT3.00 DOT JAPAN F45". I think the F is front, maybe the 45 is a load rating? Wish I could be of more help, but there isn't a cast in part number. As Pat said, the bearing ID is probably your only determination.

I have one of the later model wheels, that don't work with stock axle, it was a freebie....  I'll look at it tonight after I get home and post the numbers on it.
