I collect motorcycles, and one thing I cannot get over about the FJ1100 / FJ1200 is what a booming, easy to maintain bike it is.....Ever try to work on a V twin or V four cruiser style bike? I've had a Honda Shadow and a Magna and what a frustrating POS they are to service ! The carbs are stuck between a Vee that requires complete removal of the tank AND draining and removing a radiator.....I love the FJ for its brutal simplicity!

Welcome, and I totally agree , it was the FJs old school tech that has always endeared them to me.

Reasonably modern suspension
No Fuel Injection (Nice, but expensive to toy with)
No Water cooling (Maybe if you live in Arizona of something, but I don't need it living in New England)
Engine is an in-line 4 design (carbs pop off easy)
Fast as a SOB, 138 hp pushing a 550 lb bike is still by 2010 standards not a very bad power to weight ratio.

'Cruiser' style bikes are great to look at and ride, but they absolutely blow in many other ways
Most still have a drum brake on the rear
Most have very low HP and are pigs, their only salvation is a fair ammt of torque.
The V design make carb fiddling and absolute pain.
That V design often times makes access to the rear exhaust a pain.
For that Low Rider look, everything is STUFFED down below the seat area with no room to spare.

Almost 25 years later and that 'ol FJ can still give alot of stuff out there a run for its money, AND its easy to maintain.
One of my favorite bikes in the collection. Its the 'go to' bike I can always trust for a weekend away.
In some cases stuff is shoved up under the gas tank all for the sake of that look.
