Scott (and other area riders),

Dunno if you'd be interested, but the Chicago Area Riders are having their annual Fall Colors ride this weekend (Sunday). I'm planning on being there, depending on the weather and my physical condition – I think I cracked a rib and maybe broke a toe last week in a non-bike-related incident.

It's not an organized "club" per se, just a loose affiliation of area riders. Mostly cruisers – lots of Harleys, some interesting metrics (it's kind of an off-shoot of the IntruderAlert group...), a sport bike or two, a KLR once in a while, a WeeStrom (me). Nobody cares what you ride. All experienced riders; about 20 percent female. No attitudes, no egos, no posers, no squids – just nice folks.

They ride a LOT slower than an FJ Rally group, and they stop a lot. If they get 200 miles in, it's a long ride for them, but it's a pleasant, relaxing cruise.

Details:

"October 17   Ed's Annual Fall Colors Ride, 7th year, meet at Egg Harbor Café, 210 S Cook, Barrington, near Route 59 (Barrington Road) and Route 14 (Northwest Highway), park in lot across from the café, depart 9am, arrive earlier for breakfast and chit chat, headed toward Wisconsin just over the Illinois border, lunch between 1 and 2pm near Burlington, no fee, no donation, about 125/135 miles, excellent leisurely ride.
Depending on the weather and/or our riding comfort, we have an option to have an earlier lunch. Anyone may then opt toward home after lunch or continue to ride the entire route."

Everyone's welcome. C'mon along if you get the chance.

We're not a club. Clubs have rules. Pay dues. Wear hats and shit.

Rossi,
I might go on the ride if my bike is still in one piece.I have been seriously thinking about droping the motor to do 2nd and 3rd gear though so it my be in pieces.Going into unknown territory so it might take a lot longer than antisipated.P.M. me or email me on Thurs or Fri and I will know if i can go.
