Hi,
I live in Englewood, CO which is just south of Denver. I am newbie to the FJ Forum because just today I purchased a 86 FJ1200 from C/L. Here is the link I cannot say how long it will be active. I have always loved the FJ models and remember when they first came out in 1984. This one below is unfortunately missing the engine & carbs. The PO pulled the engine & carbs for a flat track car project, cannot see how they stay cool but that's noy my problem. The C/L picture shows the engine installed and the bike has approximately 50K. The FJ1200 came with some goodies like a Kerker slip ons & a Corbin Dual canyon seat. I will be looking for a FJ1200 engine locally first

I have been motorcycling since I was 17. Here is the bikes I have owned in order Yamaha R5 350B, Suzuki GS1000EN, Suzuki PE 175, Honda CB1100F, BMW R100RS, Honda ST1100 and now the FJ1200. The only bike I have left is the one I bought new in 1979 is the GS1000E. I purchased it from from Frank Iaconna; he was the NHRA Pro Stock Champ at the time and Suzuki sponsored one of those NHRA races back in Englishtown NJ and the prize was a GS1000E. I saw it in the Want Ad Press (thank God for the Internet) I bought it from him. I am an active member on the GS Resource Forum with over 1000 posts. Last year  painted the GS and here is a Bucket link if interested. I found out painting is expensive. There is a guy on GS Forum that does outstanding paint work too (nvr2old).

Steve,

Welcome aboard.
Hope you have luck finding an engine.  They aren't too plentiful primarily because of use in Legends and other (car) racing classes.  From your list of bikes it seems like you've been riding for a fair while.

Cheers,
Arnie

Thanks for all the replies guys, I am always amazed how friendly people are and willing to share their wealth of motorcycling knowledge. Our politicians could learn a thing or two from us motorcyclists. Hopefully I will use the Forum Search often and won't ask too many same old same old carb or jetting questions.

I am hoping an FJ engine will turn up locally since the Labor Day weekend is always a good time to find deals. To be honest, I was not fully aware of how many FJ's become engineless due to the Legend & Sprint car guys. Having done a lot of Ebay (srsupertrap) & Forum shipping myself it would probably be cost prohibitive to ship an engine even by Greyhound. I just shipped a GS1100 frame & two wheels with tires from denver to Cleveland and that was $175 by Greyhound. Oh well, I will have to be patient
