ever get one of those moments when you just wanna stick your head down the toilet and flush... My 89 3cvs been vibrating real bad for a while now and after my throttle hand went dead after only 20 miles tought it was time to sort it. left side front mounting was solid so that had to come out. improvised puller didnt work, said puller and heat didnt work, soaking in penetrating oil didnt work so what was next.... BIG HAMMER. one gentle tap and i was getting a birds eye view of number one liner and conrod ...... what can i say, hands up im a t%$£ .  anybody in western europe got a top crankcase gathering dust let me know and i promise ill look after this one.       p.s been watchin from the sides for a while now , love the site.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the 89 is supposed to have solid mounts.

When you get it fixed, try a valve check and carb sync first.

You will have great difficulty in mounting the '92 engine in an '89 frame.

Do you have the "GREAT big hammer set" to help fit it?

Cheers,
Arnie

Arnie, I bet he has tossed the 'Great Big Hammer Set' by this time.  It has served it's purpose.

got my top case back today loooooookin real good and all for a couple of cold ones :yahoo: crank, big ends, and mains are all perfect, bores will be perfect after a light hone, just gotta look at the inlet buckets on 1 and 2. theyre very tight. im gonna strip and lap in all 16 valves while i have the chance. im seriously considering getting the cams reprofiled but i dont want to lose that awesome midrange, any advice ? looks like 2nd gear has already been sorted but then again the bike has only done 20,000 miles and might not be evident yet.   sorry for leaving the thread for a while just depressed i guess.  thanks fellas been great help.. :good:
