GSXR 1100 REAR WHEEL MOD

Using the GSXR rear brake can you use the FJ brake line or do you need one made? Im trying to get all my ducks in a row before I do the rear wheel mod.Does the stock GSXR sprocket work or do you need to go up or down in teeth to get the same gearing as the FJ wheel.

First the brake line- the underslung GSX-R caliper has the banjo bolt to the outside, the FJ is forward. You would have to twist the hose 90 degrees. It would also be a reach I think. I went out and and around the end of the swingarm, used a 27" braided hose. To do it again I would use a shorter hose and go inside the swingarm.
The sprocket- My GSX-R 1100 (92?) wheel came with a 42 tooth. Geared a little lower than the 40 stocker (41 on 1100's?) but fit and worked fine with my 110 link chain. Lots of Suzuki's have the same sprocket, many options available. I just found a Bandit sprocket in 38 tooth.

I did the following:

Rear wheel : GSXR1100 '92-'94
Rear sprocket: GSXR750 '92-'94
Rear caliper: GSX750F '90s
Caliper bracket and spacers: GSXR750 '92-'94.
Tyre: Michelin Pilot Road II, 170 x 60

I thought all the GSXR brake calipers were under the swingarm.Bill did you use the FJ spacers on each side of the rim or the GSXR?

 Doug here answering instead of Bill, my 2 cents - the GSX-F (Katana) calipers were on top, you will want to look closely at where the bleed screws are located when parts hunting, sometimes people confuse the two. I used the Suzuki wheel spacers, seems like the FJ's didn't fit the seal diameters.

Spacers from Suzuki.  I also installed a 4mm washer each side.

I had the wheel shipped from the UK (a bike wrecker's) to Oz, and mentioned it was for an FJ1200.  I also told them I needed brake componenets and torsion arm to match.  They shipped most of it over, doing most of the thinking for me.  All I had to buy extra was the caliper bracket, spacers and sprocket.
The torsion arm they sent allowed me to use the existing attachment point, and retain the center stand.
