I know many of you guys are on the ADV Rider group, but figured I post this for those who aren't.  The FJR Forum had a link to ADV Rider with info on using a Catepillar O-ring on the bar-end for a cruise control.  I have put the factory heated grips on my FJR which isn't compatible with my Vista Cruise.  This looks to be an easy and cheap solution.  I ordered a couple online.

I had the same line of thinking.  Just don't use the lubed ones.  And for the female FJers, ribbed are okay, for your pleasure.....

You got the extra large ones, you probably should have bought the junior size.  I can't confirm, but hey....   :pardon:

Cat house not needed.  My father passed me a box of 0-rings in something like 100 different sizes.  I just went down to the garage, and fitted the right size, and, 5 minutes later, it sure seems to work as well as the $110 throttle meisters I had on the Hurricane a few years back.  Damn.  Yet again, I'm nicked by occam's razor....

Okay, Dan, had to check the wiki on occam's razor.  Apropos.  Glad it worked.

I ordered 5 of the CAT O-Rings from dieselgaskets.com (I think that's what it was) for about $10+shipping.  Seems too easy.

From what I could tell, the best O-Ring for the Gixxer was significantly smaller than the one pictured.  It created friction between the internals of the bar, and bar weight, but it's not visible from the outside.  I found, in a quick test, that I could not tighten the weight screw too much, or it would add too much friction, so I left it a bit loose.  If I roll the weight forward, it tightens it up- shockingly like the Throttlemeisters.  Course, I may loose a bar end weight this way, I'll have to see...

The CAT o-rings came today.  Fit fine, at least sitting in the garage.  Road test will quickly show it if will hold while rolling down the road.  The FJR came with aftermarket bar ends which have a grove that holds the ring adequately.

BMW's have a Teflon tipped screw the screws into a purpose built, threaded hole on the throttle housing.  Crank it down and the throttle holds.  At least that's the way my K75 was.  They may have funny turn signal controls etc, but they do get some things right...
