Hi, guys:

New to the forum.  Bought my '91 FJ new and have loved every minute on it.  Complete stock except for Givi WingRack.  Just got it back on the road after about 10 years (triplets are turning 11 soon).  New tires, carbs cleaned, etc.  Riding beautifully - just as I remembered.

I have searched the forum but have been unable to locate any detailed information for OEM mirror options for the '91.

Can anyone offer any help to someone who's mechanical skills are limited to putting gas in the tank?

Thanks!

Rusty,

Welcome to the group and back to the FJ experience. Many years ago I replaced the mirrors on my '91 (silvering going) with pattern YZF600 items.

Thanks.  Any particular year YZF?  I keep reading about CBR OEMs but don't know if any certain year is required.

Thanks again for the reply and warm welcome...

Rusty,

47mm bolts centres are needed. I think these are the ones I used.

Welcome to the group Rusty,

I installed the CBR600RR 03-06 mirrors on my '89.  Not sure if the fairing is the same on the 91?  Anyway, I can see behind me better than the stock mirrors, but not by a whole lot.  Now instead of having a 90% view of my shoulders and 10% of road, I've got about a 50% view of my elbows and a 50% view of the road.  At least I can see who or if there is someone directly behind me so it's an upgrade.  I got mine cheap ($30 for the pair.??) on eBay, mailed to me from Japan.  (Carbon fiber even...oooooohh. probably Faux- carbon fiber.)   Didn't retain receipts , sorry, but this link or something similar looks familiar--  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Left-Right-Mirror-for-Honda-CBR-600-600RR-03-08-Carbon_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35598QQitemZ130408059221

There are step by step directions on how to install the CBR mirrors to fit your Yamaha OEM mounts in the 'Files' Section, -- modifications.

This link http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=283.msg2091#msg2091 talks about the GSXR1000 working well --I haven't tried them but they sound like a viable option.
