:mail1: Hi having read about handle mods i thought more and more on the subject so i took into manufacturing my bracket . started out with a bit of cardboard got an idea and size of what i was looking for. I purchased a couple of old handlebars cut the tops of them got a piece of 1/4" plate and started creating what i had put on the cardboard. Having cut and formed the shape i i drilled and tapped 8mm threaded holes in it to take the clamp drilled a hole of centre for the yoke head nut to poke though, I then fitted the old cut handle bars on and tacked everything into place, removed and then welded completely, cooled and fitted on again to make sure.
I buffed the bracket all into shape useing a sanding disc untill i was statisfied then got black gloss paint painted it and let dry ,fitted a set of handlebar clamps to it, all ok so far, i,ve orded a set of handle bars and barens for it to complete the job to which i hope goes o.k thus this story so far i,ll let you know i finish. Cost of this job to date is 1 set scrap handlebars £10.00,  1/4" plate i got free, £20.00, replacment handlebars £17.00, bar ends £8.00. So for £55.00 i think i,ve got of light on this compared to what lsl charge for brackets

Sounds like a great project.

One word of caution: do make sure that cables do not need to be replaced, re-routed etc.  When I did the Heli-Bars on the Gixxer, the thrrottle cable were hanging up on the head-stock preventing the bars from turning too far to the right -not good!  So I fabricated a cable bracket to hold the throttle cables down below the head stock.  If the cables were 1" shorter, I would not be able to do this and would have needed to replace the cables.  Interestingly, the install guide from Heli-bars said nothing about having to do this -seemed like a bit of an over sight to me.

So do check your cable lengths to make sure you're not going to need to change/ replace any.

Having done this and now fitted all together and handlebar,s & rerouted some wires cables etc making sure nothing touch,s the tank or is getting nipped anywere i,m glad to say this job is done. I haven,t rode the bike anywhere yet but would need too as i have trip too scotland coming up but on first impressions moving the motorcycle around the yard i find a bit more comfortable and just sitting on the bike on main stand i also find a difference what it will be when actually rode who know,s but heres hoping. Some of the work came from advice from people like Dan Filetti, and each one all helpful so a big thanks to you  :good:
