I've got an MZ. A ETZ251 Saxon Tour – the last of the two strokes. I use it for commuting and as a winter bike. They are crude and quirky, but solid and dependable. There is a great owners club here in the UK with regular rallies across the country.

OK I clicked the flag got it translated to English and that 1000ST looks like fun. I have ridden a twin but not one that large.

I think DKW (Dampf-Kraft-Wagen = steam car) was started in Eastern Deutschland but ended up in the West under VW ownership. They were once the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer - smokey little two strokes up to about 350cc but they could be tuned to go fast. The engine design was sold off and ended up as the BSA Bantam 125 and something  Hardly-Driveable.

Actually, the design was taken as War Reparations.....no money was paid for it...
