Pilot Jets w/holes compared to stock

Can anyone confirm that the pilot jets with the bleed holes are the correct jets? I am going from memory(which ain't that good anymore), but I think that the stock jets had no holes. I received my jets the other day and they have the holes in them. I ordered the BS30/96 type jets.They were the only ones listed for a BS type carb. I remember reading on the yahoo list about this subject but damned if I can get the search thing to work over there. :mad:

Those are the ones. The holes on the side of the jet is to prevent build up of crap within the jet and the assist is cleaning later.

I've read where those holes on the "snout" of the jet are to assist the atomization process with air coming from the air pilot jet.  The holes were a "mod" improvement to the idle jets.  I don't think you can buy an idle jet these days that doesn't have those holes.

I heard that too many years ago, but after looking at the jet design there in no "air" in there for use to assist atomization. The area where the holes are located is trapped between the taper seal at the bottom of the jet and the threaded upper portion.

So, there is a little more fuel around the "inlet" side of the jet but there is no way for it to make the jet work any better...

You're right, Randy, it does seat at the snout.  So much for the "convenient" explanation. 

Maybe it just makes the jets more expensive to produce; therefore, they can charge more for them.  :-)
