Exhaust Law in Maine

 Looks like Maine has passed a new law that will take effect on July 12.

It gives "Cops" expanded powers to stop and write tickets to bikers who have altered their bikes to make them louder.

In 2012 we (Bikers) will have to display an inspection sticker that states we have the factory exhaust installed.

Someone needs to get with the AMA.... they've fought similar laws in other states and beat them.  Have you asked the state what you do when the Manufacturer stops making parts for the older bikes?

I was thinkin' AMA too. How did this get passed with no public discussion? I know we are a minority, but think of all the doctors/lawyers/politicos with look-at-me loud cruisers. Have they no lobbying power?  I thinks repeal is in order with the next election "cycle".

i don't know how this got passed, i never heard anything about it till they said it is going into effect on the 12'th.

maybe it is like the gay law the governor passed without asking the voters opinions. (that didn't last for long)

i think this law comes from all the Harley guys that run straight pipes and ruin it for everyone else.
