I had an interesting experience

I've had my 84 FJ1100 for about a month now. It was driving like a dream. I just loved it, still do. Last week I was accelerating to get on the freeway when it starts bucking on me.  When it starting bucking the tach would drop 2000 and then go back to normal and drop again. It felt like a car that was running out of gas. It was fine up to about 35 miles an hour but would start bucking again. I was about 20 minutes from my repair shop and was able to take surface streets. The guy said that the tach going crazy is sort of a sign of an electrical problem. They checked and he told me it was the relay. The put a new relay in and it doesn't do that anymore.

The other issue I am having is this (I put this in my petcock post too). When I bought it the guy that sold it to me he told me that they had some sort of electrical problem and fixed it buy doing something to the kickstand switch. They had to undo the switch. The result was the bike continued to work but the neutral light doesn't work.  The guy at the shop told me there is something wrong with the start switch. I bought a one from ebay and when I looked at it the start switch was pushed in and locked/rusted in. The mechanic tried to work with it but said it was a no go. So now, some how, the theory is to replace the starter switch and some how that will effect/affect? the green neutral light - it will work and come back on. Does 80 percent of this make sense? Has anyone had any experience with this? a referral, anywhere on earth, for a "new" starter switch would be greatly appreciated.

note also that I just replaced the relay.

You can take the switch apart and clean up the contacts and lube the moving bits for free. try the simple easy stuff first when trouble shooting. When all the easy/less expensive stuff is done then you know you did not spend money when a simple fix would do. Tell us what fixed it.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

If the neutral light doesn't come on when your in neutral, the switch may be bad. If it is bad, the interlock relay would always think it's in gear and you wouldn't be able to start her without pulling in the clutch lever. If that switch is bad, you wouldn't be able to start her at all. You'd have to bypass the clutch switch......

You really need a wiring diagram to troubleshoot this.
