Just to verify, my coils have cracks in the body, I can patch these up but a misfire in the wet makes me think some damage has been done.

My Question - I checked the primary resistance to be 2 ohm, some recommend the green 3ohm Dyna coils but shouldn't the grey/ gray 2 ohm Dyna coils be the correct replacements?

As I recall...Yes, for the FJ's with the later DCI ignitions (single pick up)  2.2 ohm Dyna grays are what you want.

For the earlier FJ's with the TCI ignitions (dual pick up) the 3 ohm Dyna greens are what you want.

These hot coils along with the coil relay mod, will really wake up your ignition system.
You will notice this improvement the first time you start your bike.

Cheers

Thankyou, these different CDI's and coils are nuts. Is there a CDI log that shows which CDI's can be used to match the pickup coils. I have a blue label CDi with 3CV prefix (my FJ1200 89 is 3CV) but I noticed there are red label CDI's with 3CV prefix ?

We don't have CDI's Capacitive Discharge Ignitions.

FJ's have 2 types of ignition modules:

1) Transistor Controlled Ignition or TCI's 1984-1987 of which there are 3 sub types,
 a) vacuum advance TCI with side stand safety switch and
 b) no vacuum advance TCI with no side stand switch.
 c) power limited TCI's on FJ's sold in the Asian market (and Swiss?)

2) Digital Controlled Ignitions or DCI 1988-1995 of which there are also 3 sub types same as above.

Different markets got different ignition boxes. I think that's what you're looking at...
I've been told the Aussie FJ's did not have the side stand safety switch or the vacuum advance on their bikes.
We know the EU and US markets did have these features.

Does that help?

Again, thanks for clearing this up, we don't have vacuum advance but we do have a sidestand kill switch by law.
