Fuel tap issues? FJ1100

Had a fuel from the carbs dribble issue, fitted a new tap that came with the bike, all good for a month or 3 then a crankcase full/soaked air cleaner etc!

Does the fuel tap stop the fuel flow dead or might it drip? (my experience with the new tap)

Might the tank breather be suspect causing tank pressure build up? (hot/cold summer temperatures)

It looks hard to put a remote on/off option in place.

Thanks

Hi Steve.
Vacuum actuated petcock. Vacuum from intake starts the flow. Verify your float needles are seating and your float height is correct. Rebuild or replace your petcock. RPM is a good source. I put a remote on off valve on my 600 and put a 1100 petcock on my 1200. Gave up the reserve feature but I never used it anyway.

Hi TIMOTHY,

It was a brand new Yamaha tap and on inspection 'looks' good but drips slowly anyway when sat on a bench. This tap only has on and prime and is not accessible without removing the tank anyway. RPM USA? or RPM Australia? I guess the former..  thanks for you thoughts. My thinking is heat from summer sun on my storage container and a not very good breather causing pressure in the tank, investigations shall continue.  :)

The petcock should stop the gas from flowing at all with no vacuum present when its in the on position. When its set to the prime position it will flow gas with or without vacuum. Your carburetor float valves should also be able to stop the flow of gas once the float bowl is full.
