Hi All,   Looking for recommendations for a Supplier of carb kits for my 1993 FJ1200. It has just over 50,000kilometers recorded, been standing unused for about two years. Put a new battery on it, turned over OK, started it up briefly and leaks petrol from two carburettors.
There is a bewildering range of carb kits out there with huge price differences and variations of kit content.
I live in France. The FJ is French market with VIN 3CX105430.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Thank you for that information. I used RPM quite a lot when I lived in Temecula, California. They were always great to deal with. I have looked at their website and the delivery cost to France is pretty high. That though is not the deal breaker. The issue is the French Customs. Importing from outside the EU incurs duty and import taxes. Then they add 20% tax on top of that!
A Supplier in the EU would be perfect to avoid the item doubling in price😎🍻

DID MY r1 LAST YEAR AND GOT EVERYTHING OFF EBAY (uk) NO PROBLEM

Norway isn't an EU member, however, there are other trade agreements which may apply. So, while this may sound like a long shot, try sending an e-mail to Krangnes Motor in Norway.

Their website is: https://www.krangnesmotor.no/
Their e-mail is: mail@krangnesmotor.no

They will know what you need and don't need, and can probably ship you just the necessary parts.

Mike g, thank you. I have trawled eBay, but am somewhat confused as to the variation in prices. Often for what appears to be the same kit. Presume that there is good and bad there, but do not know which is the good. That is why I was looking for recommendations.

Tom Nolan,
Thank you for this link. I will take a look at their website. However my son lives in Bergen and he has sent stuff to me, but always been hit with import taxes to France.

You can try Martyn, He regularly imports stuff from us. So if there is something you want that he doesn't have he can order it for you and we can ship it to him with his stock orders.

Thank you for this link, but the importation of goods from the UK since Brexit incurs the same tax and duty as importing from US.
That is why I was looking for recommendations within EU, or a supplier on EBay.

How much import tax and duty is applied to a $25 bag of screws and o rings?
1) Free Owners Manual download: https://tinyurl.com/fmsz7hk9
2) Don't store your FJ with E10 fuel https://tinyurl.com/3cjrfct5
3) Replace your old stock rubber brake lines.
4) Important items for the '84-87 FJ's:

To a $25 item probably about $10 in duty and taxes. The issue is even if you only paid $25 in the US it is not what you would have paid for it in France. French Customs assess an item a put their own value on it regardless of what you paid in the country of purchase. Then import duty is added to the French value and then 20% added to the whole lot.
A carb kit here is around $160, so to give you an idea $160 less 20% gives $128, so item value $128+15% duty= $150+20% tax = $180,
That is why I need an EU Supplier, or EBay importer recommendation.
Having lived in California I know life was simpler and so much cheaper than France.

Had a similar problem on my bike. Only getting the carbs properly cleaned cleared it, although I tried lots of sprays and carb cleaners first just in case. I was working on it in France, in the Languedoc. I also found ebay reliable, and bought a stainless-steel allen-key set of screws for the carbs from a French supplier - the o/e ones are not tremendously hardy. The Brit company wemoto have a French branch, and can supply a surprising amount of things from stock.

Darkwing

Hoppity,

thank you for response. Interesting point about carb screws. Do you have the name of the French company supplying the s/steel set please?
I am going to look-up Wemoto France also to see what they have. I am on Wemoto Uk email list, but never knew they are also in France.
