Stuck Choke Plungers

I recently purchased a project 1100 that took some trouble starting but ran decently well. I went to clean and check the carbs and found that all four choke plungers were stuck. It took some coaxing with some heat and pliers but they got out. The issue arises that I see no reason why they were stuck. There was no corrosion or rust on the plungers or hole and the only damage was some deep scratches from them rubbing on each other. I purchased a new plunger set from RPM and found they were the same size as the ones I took out meaning the plungers weren't the problem. The plungers can still move when inserted but requires a good amount of force and scratches the plunger. I planned on cleaning up the hole with a Dremel with a bit the same size as the plunger but found that it was boring out the hole rather than widening it. I am wondering if I should continue with this or attempt a different method or if I'm way off. Thanks

I'd proceed with caution!  These carb sets are not a dime a dozen any more!

Send a message to Robert or Randy and see what they advise.  I don't know if enrichment plunger issues are covered in any of the carb stuff in the files section? A few other members have spent some quality time with their carbs recently and have documented their efforts.  Again, not sure if any of those involved the enrichment plungers.  I think there is a good chance something else might be contributing to the issue - would be worth taking a step back and looking at the entire linkage maybe?  Haven't heard many (any?) enrichment plunger issues like this ... and most "firsts" get found before the 40th anniversary of the type or model!

You used heat on your carbs? Chances are you just cooked the o rings. Time for a rebuild. Get yourself this kit from RPM, it will help your rebuild, the best $24 you will ever spend on your FJ

Better yet, send them to Robert at RPM, he will fix them right.

Best of luck.

I did but it was just a heat gun and I had basically stripped the carbs before. Plus I already bought that kit. I will just have to reach out directly to Robert.
