'84 FJ1100 build

Hello, fellow FJ lovers.  I'm a professional motorcycle mechanic (over 35 years in the business) in Denver Colorado, U.S.A., with several MRA titles under my belt as a builder/tuner as well as a retired road racer from the 80's and 90's .  I fell in love with the FJ1100 the first time I saw a picture of one in 1984.  I owned an '85 FJ back in the day which was one of my favorite bikes I have ever owned and found this nice '84 last September.  I've been ordering parts and refurbishing it since.  Getting close and will be riding it this spring.  I'm doing the Marlboro Yamaha paint scheme but just can't do the Florescent Red as it doesn't stand up to UV very well and I'm at a mile above sea level.  My next update should be of the finished product.

I raced at Willow Springs in California.  I was Pedro Bravo's mechanic in the MRA.  Won multiple Middleweight titles on ZX6's and a Heavyweight twins title on a Bimota SB8R.  He won previous titles as well.  Pueblo was his favorite track. RZ 350...  I had an '85 Red and White Roberts replica... That was my favorite bike I ever owned... The FJ was my 2nd favorite.  I have owned dozens of bikes.

Thanks, Fred.  Wichita... I found a carbon copy of my first bike, on CL in Wichita (78 KZ200), so my buddy and his wife made a road trip from Denver to grab it for me.

257 - took me a minute to recall, but I used that number in my Hotmail address.

I think I only made two races - Woody Creek in Aspen and then Pueblo.   So wanted to do the streets in Steamboat Springs (kinda difficult with a collar bone broken in two places!). 

I was the epitomy of confusing enthusiasm with capability back then.  This was also while I was a cadet at the Air Force Academy and wasn't allowed to even ride a motorcycle - much less race one!  Got in a bit of trouble over that in the end ...

Got 'er done!  Waiting on same graphics that are running late.  Tons and tons of new parts.  Test rode it yesterday and it ran beautifully.  Now... Which one should I ride this weekend?  FJ, of course.
