Poormans M-Lok

There are hundreds of RFID control units out there an I wonder if I can use one as a cheaper version of an M-Lok.

I've gone with a set of FZR yokes to suit a pair of Thundercat forks etc and have ground off the ignition switch mount. I was going to just relocate the whole lock but them thought why not replace the switch with a remotely controlled switch and relay.

I know I've lost the steering lock but having watched someone break one it really isn't much of a hurdle for a thief to prevent him from walking off with the bike.

Question?

Is there any one wire from the ignition switch circuit that cuts all power to the bike (in my teens I cut down a loom of a 350 YPVS and managed to bypass the switch, there was no power to the lights but the bike would start switch on or off)

In the manual, to test park, continuity is checked between R and L, is Blue for the lighting circuit?

I know I'm basically asking how to hot wire my bike and then break the circuit using relays so if anyone has the answer, or has done this but doesn't feel comfortable posting on a public forum feel free to message me

Thanks

I "think" the "source" wire to the ignition switch is hot from the fuse block.  That would be the easiest wire to intercept.

Otherwise - simply look at the ignition switch function to set up relays in its place.

Hey Joe, go to your profile and in your signature line put in the year FJ you have...that way it will automatically appear in all your posts...this is especially helpful in looking up the wire colors on the schematics.

Watched a video the other day of a XS1100 (same ignition switch I believe) and he bridged the wires when fitting a M-Lok

Pulled my wiring loom apart today, as you do, and found a rather nasty repair to the brown wire so maybe an idea to check out if it cuts all power to the bike when I sort it (quite a bit of work required on the loom before getting to that stage.)

Thanks for the reply.
