New go the forum and I'm loving the help and tips you all give so I'm Hoping one of you lovely bunch can help me this time.

I have an 85 FJ1100 project and I'm struggling to find a reasonable priced Relay unit that mounts in the front fairing.
All I have to go by at the moment is wiring diagrams but I'm hoping someone has maybe come across this issue, cracked it open and worked out how to replace it with 2 or 3 standard 4 pin relays?

If anyone has a solution and a modified wiring diagram with general relays, It would be a massive help into the final steps of getting my project up and running

1985 FJ1100 project.... Wish me luck for the electrical system ????

If you want to replace the main relay, perhaps this will help...
The race car folks use this for the minimum wiring needed on their cars.
Some other folks have modified this diagram to get the minimum wires needed for their custom bikes.

BMWilliams,

Your inquiry is not exactly clear, but I assume you want to replace the turn signal flasher unit with a conventional flasher relay.  I can help, there.  The stock OEM flasher relay assembly has several functions, so I can't say you should remove the old flasher relay unit from the bike, because it probably affects the operation of several things.  Still, here is one possibility, if you need working turn signals.  Remove the chocolate and chocolate/white wires from the connector to the relay (they are next to each other) and connect them to a new, conventional automotive 2 pin flasher relay instead.  This remedy should give you the normal functions of turn signals, but they will no longer self-cancel, as the stock flasher relay would do.
If possible, you should try to obtain all such OEM parts from the local (U.K.) salvage/breaker yards, or a parts bike.  The Internet can help.  It's good to have a spare, for this item.
Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
