Hello, came home from Maui two days ago and stayed up all night to go out and get my Second FJ 1200. I Had one about 24 years ago then my little baby girl was born to make me a proud Daddy. I then had to let the Bike go to someone who had the time to ride her and I missed the bike.  Now I have found another new but old FJ 1200, 1992 with only 15 thousand miles on her what are the odds? My now grown-up baby girl is 24 and wants me to take her for a ride, can't wait for summer up here in Canada. I have a question to ask. does anyone know how I would get a used new pair of pipes? do all the years fit the same,  1986 to I think 96 let me know if any could. I'm really looking forward to riding this beautiful bike.
Cheers, Rad

'89 FJ 1200 3CV - owned from new.
'89 FJ 1200 3CV - no engine, tank, seat....parts bike for the future.
'88 FJ 1200 3CV - complete runner 2024 resto project
'88 FJ 1200 3CV - became a race bike, no longer with us.
'86 FJ 1200 1TX - sold to my boss to finance the '89 3CV I still own.

Welcome.

The FJ pipes (from the exhaust side of engine to the end of the 4 to 2 collector, if still stock) for all years will fit. Stay away from '84/'85, don't ask. '86/'87 are Stainless and polish up for a really nice look. The mufflers attach differently to the bike depending on the year. But you should find some good condition/working parts that will fit. Keep looking.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

....or if you come across a second hand Remus system it fits neatly and has a pleasant tone ...also its not overly loud.
No problem with centre stand or oil change access and its a good bit lighter than stock.
If you feel like really pushing the boat out there is a very ambitious ebay seller in japan looking to sell a 4:1 yoshimura system for $1000 plus shipping...i bet they are lining up for that one.
Stainless lines
Blue spot calipers but std m/cyl (so far)
Ebc prolite front discs
Ohlins remote adj rear shock
Remus 4:1
Still running original chain and sprockets from new (scotoilers really work)
Krauser k2s

[/quote] I Found a few stock pipes three in all!  One is really in good shape but I had to cut off the clamp, it was broken but I will replace it with a good one. I also found a pair of what looks like new or as new as can be, a few scratches but they will be for a few years down the road. I will try and find one more pair as I'm a stock guy and need it to look like it came off the line. last a few odds and ends to make it look better than it does now, replace my seat...it has blue flames on it and I don't like it.
Sorry but, F$%#, but I can't wait to ride this bike. When I finally had it in my driveway my Son said you look so happy, Dad. He was so right, I'm looking at another for him now. Cheers everyone! Rad

Thanks for the info, I found a few now, 3 in total, one nice one, and a pair of really nice ones for down the road a few years. I will always keep this stock if I can but eventually will have to get some kind of replacement but want to keep the 4 to 2 always exhaust. Cheers, Rad!

Sounds like a good deal but I'm keeping with the 4 to 2, I like the stock look. I found 3 pipes, 1 is in good shape and on the bike now and the other two are really good so a few years down the road they will be the new deal. Thanks again for the info and for replying to my issue, I love this site! Rad

As Mark mentions, the head pipes are interchangeable for ALL years. I run a pieced together 4-2 system.

OEM head pipes
Black Widow collector
Dominator mufflers

With the dB killers installed, the sound level is not much more than stock.

This system cuts down on some weight.

In the photo, you can see the collector with the crossover tube.
