Looking to sell my 1989 FJ1200 sidecar rig.  The sidecar is a French-made, SideBike Comanche made specifically for this motorcycle.  The bike cannot be disconnected from it and ridden, as the front end has been significantly modified.  Very few exist, but you can see from the pics that it has some mileage.  A couple years ago, I had the carbs rebuilt and while I'm not riding it as often as I'd like, it's in running condition.  There is a cover for the sidecar as well, though I did not take a photo of it.  Oh, and there are several boxes of extra parts.

I don't want to price myself out of whatever unique market there might be for this combination, but am interested in knowing what you knowledgeable people might think it could be worth to the right buyer.  There's also an interesting Cycle World article about it that I will offer to the new owner.

Thanks for your input.

Interesting sale...I don't recall ever seeing a FJ side hack for sale on this forum.
A couple of questions:
1) What size tires do you run?
2) I assume custom shocks front and back, what brand, can you still get parts for a rebuild if needed?
3) Can the pivot points be rebuilt or replaced, if needed?

Thanks for listing with us!

Tires:
front - 165/65R13 77T
rear - 175/65R14
sidecar - P165/65R13

Shocks - Ohlins

Not sure what you mean by "pivot points".  The brackets holding the bike to the sidecar are accessible.

Also, unlike most sidecar rigs, its wheel steers with the front wheel, making cornering smoother.

Many years ago a friend had a side car setup for his FJ.  The car was attached to the bike by a hinge with the massive roller chain.  The design was such that as the bike tilted the side car did too. The result was the whole thing counter-steered just like a plain bike.  It was hypnotizing to ride behind.  He eventually moved the setup over to a ST1100 that he thought was better suited for the car.  In any case side cars are complex cool oddities. :good2:
