Busted the bike out for a quick ride before the cold front.

Awesome! Good looking (Theft Deterrent) Silver. I have the dark blue 89' color.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Mark, that made me laugh....I wonder how Simi Valley Ed is doing?

I reached out to him a few days ago by email. He seemed good from his reply. Not riding much, I hope to meet up with him on two wheels in the near future.

I've heard the "theft deterrent silver" comment for years ... never knew where it came from - or why  :unknown:

Same here, but you know, we just gotta go with it sometimes.

It could be that was the era when nothing was selling, and dealers could not give them away, much less anyone wanting to steal one.

Sure, maybe that's it.

I think it was implied the silver and white was the least desirable of all the colors. If you had all the FJs lined up, the silver and white would be the last one standing for the thieves.

:wacko1: At least that's the way I understood it.

Pat Conlon

Yep, Robert's correct....I believe Simi Valley Ed coined the term, he had the "theft resistant" silver/white '89.

I have been pondering a twin turbo set up with dual intercoolers (pancake cooling fans) in a blow through configuration.
Picture not to scale, a couple small turbos.

No theft resistant silver for me.

I swapped for a few miles with my neighbor on the theft resistant Silver Concours. That bike doesn't do it for me.
