Triumph Factory Cafe Ride

Now that my recovery has reached the point of being able to ride the FJ again, I'm making the most of the sunshine and time available to get out and build up some miles.

I had a couple of hours spare this morning, so met up with 5 pals for a little ride around the Leicestershire countryside and a stop off at the Triumph motorcycle factory (one of the guys had just picked up his "new to him" 2019 Triumph 900 Street Scrambler yesterday, so wanted to make the pilgrimage) , where they have a 7 day a week cafe next to their "Visitor Experience" Centre. Nice place, if a little over-priced ($6 for a croissant and $4.50 for a hot drink), but lots of safe parking, the MotoGP races were being shown live on a big screen and the sun was shining.

Covered another 90 miles with no aches/pains or any discomfort from my new hip and I'd be happy now to head out on a multi-day tour with no worries. Unfortunately, with my wife away in the USA for almost a month, I have dog walking and care responsibilities which will limit my longer distance trip opportunities, but I'll be making the best of the situation.

Perhaps try the NC500 ( in good weather) at some point?
Its a really nice way to use an FJ as long as you are comfy at an average of say 40ish.
Stainless lines
Blue spot calipers but std m/cyl (so far)
Ebc prolite front discs
Ohlins remote adj rear shock
Remus 4:1
Still running original chain and sprockets from new (scotoilers really work)

Yeah, I've done most of the NC500 Doug, over 4 trips, a lot of it in the rain ????.

The first time we tried to do it, we planned 2 weeks for the ride combined with a sightseeing holiday (in August, myself and my son on the FJ, my wife on her Fazer 1000). After 4 days of torrential rain, my wife said she was fed up and wanted to go somewhere sunny, so we stopped, turned south, rode to Plymouth, hopped on a ferry to Santander and then rode through Spain to Jaca, crossed the Pyrenees into Lourdes, then on to Carcassonne for a couple of days before heading north (via the Millau Bridge and Limousin) to Mont St Michel for a couple of days, catching another ferry from Le Havre to Southampton.

We actually love the west coast of Scotland, but we head up these days in the motorhome with our kayaks and mountain bikes  :sarcastic:
