New FJ1100 owner in Southern, IL

Just picked up this 84 FJ1100 the other day. Limped it home and began surveying the work to get it road ready. Upon some tear down i realized it was fitted with some mods already(mikuni rs36 carbs which need rebuilt, stretched swingarm extensions welded on, underbody lights which i immediately removed, lol. leaking valve cover...)
Some one did a pretty nice paint job on it at some point i think.
ordered new kenda retroactive tires in the stock sizes, the ones on it now are cracking and oversized making it feel horrible on the road.
I just joined this forum and saw the fix for the petcock valve, very nice to know that. Feel bad for the man who lost his home to that.

Nice find - I like the checkerboard stripes - like a twist on the Yamaha speedblock design typically seen.
