Diode block

Hello from Santa Barbara, CA.  Having just retired I now have time for a proper introduction. I've been riding bikes starting as a teen in Denmark, then immediately when moving to LA (SF valley) since that was all I could afford. It was baptism by fire and rode without a helmet at first, got wiser and got one as well as moving away from LA before I had an accident. Purchased my 84 FJ in 1989 with 42 K on the clock from original owner who commuted and raced it a few times at Lacuna Seca so he had changed rear shock,front springs,brake lines,Supertrap exhaust and airbox for pods already. Since then it's been my reliable commuter bike for 32 years just changing oil and tires with a periodic tune up.
Came across this site 2 yrs ago when my front suspension went wonky thanks to 30 yr old fork oil that looked like black ketchup . Promptly did the RPM fork valves and progressive springs upgrade and noticed a dramatic improvement. Now has almost 150K on the clock and still runs strong
So now being retired I haven't ridden it since late Dec. Decided to take a ride Sunday but it wouldn't start so I jumped it at stater relay and did a 50 mile ride without issues. Next day I took a closer look. The starter relay clicks when turning key, relay unit clicks when pushing button but no start. Kickstand and clutch switches work. So I took cowling off and found diode block missing from female connector! Would that explain why it wont start?

Hi, I suspect it came off on my last ride home from work in December but didn't notice since I didn't try and start it until last Sunday. The last week I rode it I had noticed it would only start if I turned handlebars all the way to the left, so it was probably already loose and ready to come undone and fall to the pavement.
Found a OEM replacement on Babbits Yamaha parts house for $ 38 plus shipping. Hoping that will do the trick.

Make sure they have the part in stock before you buy it. Many sites will take your $$ and then tell you it is back ordered. Then they have your $$ and you are waiting for the pandemic crawl. Have you checked the parts diagram to see if this diode is part of the starter circuit?

Yeah keeping my fingers crossed they have it in stock.
I did check the starting system list and diagram in manual and the diode is on there as #27
