I loved the pr3s. Pr4s not so much. Seem to let go in the back easier under hard acceleration. And push the front easier than the 3s did. And where faster.  Looks like I'll be trying 01s on the 1350. Next.
Thanks for this. Just haven't been happy with the pr4s.

About PR4 Tires through my eyes ......

Thanks for the feedback Phil, those new tyres look interesting, how did you hear of them? are there any testimonials or did you just take a punt? What about cost? a set of PR5's or 01's etc are over $500, as you know.

Dissatisfaction with PR4's seems to be fairly common, other than dry grip issues, my FJ had never been heavier to turn in it's life than when the front became worn, and I change my tyres in pairs so the fronts never get that worn.
The feedback on the PR5 from Pete and Mike is hardly glowing either.
The bulk of reviews on tyres are when they're new and as we all know, they're all good then. Knowing how they perform for the other 3/4's of their usable life is much more useful information.

here  is a link that tells you a bit about the MITAS  Tyres ,

Before I bought them ,, I read a lot of reviews about these Tyres  ,A lot of people have use them on racing Bikes around the world and they all say they are great Tyres ,
Another Bonus is that they are way cheaper the PR4 here in Aussie  (Melbourne)
here is a bit more info about them

I envy you guys that have fitted 180's to a FJ.

You can do it. The folks here on the forum showed me how.

If you can take off your back tire, you can do it.

You will be happy you did. Not many options left in the 150/80-16 size and getting less and less every year.

I second this thought. I run the Battleaxe in 16 and they are pooched around 5000km but I will say they grip very well and can be pushed hard when fresh. Take that sixteens!!

Anyone had Michelin PR 4's and 5's and care to pass on their observations between the two? (or suggestions on other grippy tyres) I'm on the last of my 3rd set of Metzeler 01's and just seeing what's out there, I didn't particularly like the PR4's.

Noel

I had great response and feedback by many to this question, thankyou, I have decided on Metzeler 01 SE's They don't come in a heavy bike version but if the improvements over the 01 are only half as good as the hype they should be great tyres. I'll report back once I've had a few good rides on them.

Interestingly, it was hard to find much love anywhere for the PR5's. My tyre man says he's getting a lot with odd wear patterns and aggressive riders find the treadless by design outer edge starts a bit too early making them nasty in the wet.

I always replace my tyres in pairs because imo the front's had it by then anyway, so I'm accustomed to throwing away fronts with lots of tread left. However, I have noticed increasingly the fronts are becoming more worn each time to the point now that on this set, the front is down to the wear bars on the shoulder while the rear still has few miles left in it. I prefer how it was, only using the first 50% of the front tyre.

Thanks again for all the input.

Finally got my hands on a set of these today (after 3 sets of 01's). Real world reviews are excellent, and Pete, F&R are both made in Germany.

100mm (4") of rain forecast this weekend, might have to wait another week to try them out.

I loooove new tyres!

Yikes.  those are not rain tires...if caught out in the rain avoid using any lean....
