Hey  Recent discussion on electrical stuff prompted me to dig around under my seat and check out all the wire junctions etc. I discovered what appears to be an auto type relay plugged into the harness, the wires on the male side have bee jumped an inch upstream of the plug a wire  jumper is tied into the blacks and the tied in to the blue and white. I cant make sense of this and haven't tried any diagnosis.. everything electrical on the machine is working I don't even know what the relay controls but to help in this respect I would like to find a wire diag. Can any of you folks point me in this direction? PS this relay has nothing to do with the relay I installed to get more juice at the ignition coils that I did a couple of years ago.
Thanks Chiz

OK   thanks it looks like the kick stand relay it looks like the relay is jumped to hold the relay closed when ign on, makes sense as the KS switch died at some time in the bikes life.    hope I got this right.

Chiz,

Try unplugging the relay, and see what does not work then.

You can prolly get a good side-stand switch on eBay.  Also, Google Search by Part Number: 3A3-82566-10-00 for a new switch.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

I have only known relays being added to our FJ's for 3 reasons, 1) lights 2) coils and 3) horns, unless there is some special instrumentation needs.
