No one can say we're not making use of our new toy  :sarcastic:.......Liz and I are just back from taking a trip up to visit friends for a few days near the Lake District in Cumbria.

While were there we took the time to do some kayaking on Lake Ullswater, a little bit of bicycle riding, some dog walking, some motorbike fixing.....and..apparently.....a lot of drinking !!!

Our friends/hosts (Andy and Janet) are biking folk, Andy having had a 3XW FJ back in the early 90's through to 2003/4, when he chopped it in for a FZ1 (for him) and got Janet the  FZS 600, which I bought from him in 2012 for my son (Ryan).

As it turned out, Andy's FZ1 had been running poorly recently, coughing and spluttering above 5500 rpm and refusing to pull. After a quick check of the FZ1 Owners Forums, I suggested we pull off his tank and see if anything was blocking the air intake (i was thinking a rodent nest, as they live way off the beaten track, in the countryside) - well, I was right, but it wasn't what i thought....the strap that had been used to hold his tank bag base on had been left on and pushed under the tank, and it had gotten sucked into the air intake, with the catch almost blocking the whole aperture.....Job sorted, bike running like a train again  :good2:

To get to Andy's house (2 miles from the main road, up an unmade track) we do our first off-roading in the motorhome and boy did it rattle the cutlery and china !!! but we made it unscathed (with about an inch to spare on each side), but muddy.

We all had a whale of a time, the dog included, but now I'm back home and cleaning the FJ tomorrow ready for it's next ride out.

Here's a little video of the climb up the narrow track on the way to the house and a few photo's of our time there - you'll notice, we couldn't have camped up any closer to the bar door at all  :sarcastic: :sarcastic:

I used to have a trailer.  This is as close as I get to a motorhome holiday these days.  Oshkosh 2021.  All the luxuries - a propane grill, cooler, chairs, tent to sleep in, 5 gallons of water, a little table, shade tent, and bicycles.  Plus we had the golf cart battery and an inverter in the tent for house power.

Very nice Dean and glad to see you are enjoying the new toy.

I'm afraid we're just too old for camping these days Bryan, we have to have all the creature comfort's  :sarcastic:

We're planning on getting up to the west coast of Scotland for 5 days next week, with our kayaks and a couple of eBikes.

I'm really hoping the eBikes let me ride without severe hip pain (i can't use my left leg to provide real pedal power any more). Hoping to get a good few miles in on them and plenty of paddling time. We'll also have a little inflatable boat (the friends who are going with us in their camper van, have one), so we plan on visiting some of the coastal islands too, near to Skye. The weather forecast at the moment is mostly dry.... Whoop whoop  :good2: photos will follow off we make it up there.
