Ok, I finally got a couple bikes out and I am back to the FJ1100. I have the throttle working right now so, I guess I can call that progress. The Haynes manual does not cover carb adjustment but only says to go to your local Yamaha dealer. It idles well but bogs if given gas quickly. If I ease the throttle up , it will rev.

Is there a carb set up and tuning instruction somewhere? I am anxious to get on this bike if it ever stops raining that is.

I did find a procedure. It seems that I am too rich. After a throttle blip the revs stay up a bit before going back down to regular idle. It does seem that I am only 2 turns out on the mixture screws though.

You are not too rich, you are too lean. Open the mixture screws  a quarter turn at a time until the bogging stops.
   Regards, Pete.

Thanks Pete. I found an old post with the procedure of getting the highest idle on each carb separately and then moving to the next one. It does seem to be working.

I guess it pays to read the instructions. And, I learned something today. You have to plug the vacuum line on carb 1 when you're tuning the carbs. After I did that, it worked really well. Throttle response is very good now. I have also kicked myself... hard...
