Bad fuel pump ...

Hello everyone!! First apologize for the mistakes I make, I am new and I do not know very well how the Forum works (where, how to publish, etc.)

I've been reading for days and I'm fascinated by the passion we feel for our machines.

I also need a little help. I own a FJ1200 3XW and the fuel pump has broken. Can someone recommend which one to buy? There are many that look the same with very different prices and I don't know what to do.

Well met and thank you very much.

Juan.

Hola Juan, welcome to our forum.

Based on my experience, stay away from the cheap eBay fuel pumps made in China.
Sure, the price is tempting and they say they have a "lifetime" warranty but that does not help you when they fail in the middle of a ride...like what happened to me.
When you open up these pumps from China, you will see cheap stamped components.

Buy a quality pump...it will last another 30 years.
RPM sells genuine Yamaha fuel pumps: http://rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=YamFPump

If you buy a used fuel pump, there is no telling what you will get.

If you do have a fuel pump fail, always carry one of these to bypass the dead fuel pump. This will get you home.

In our File Section there are other posts about fitting other model's fuel pumps to the FJ.

Here is what I did.  We also have the same pump on my kid's Magna V30.

I'm putting a Holley Mighty-Mite fuel pump in place of the stock one.  We did this on my son's V30 Magna as well.  Here he is fabricating a couple of bushings for me to use as standoffs.

Pump, plate, bushings, and bolts.

Here is the Holley bolted into the stock fuel pump location.  Spacing between the Yamaha threaded holes is about 40mm.  Spacing for the Holley pump is 2.5".  Those 3 holes form two lines on a right angle.

The only almost major task for tomorrow is to attach the fittings to the pump, and attach the lines to the fittings.  Then try it out of course.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I forgot to mention that I had seen the RPM pump, but at the moment I cannot afford it. I have an update project for my Granny that includes a lot of Randy stuff but I have to wait a bit. Unfortunately without the pump there is no motorcycle and I need to walk. Difficult to hit. I won't buy any of those cheap ones, I can't waste the money ...

If anyone knows any alternative it would be helpful, to see if there is luck.

Juan.

What's wrong with your old fuel pump?

Perhaps you just need a new $40 set of points?

Bryan's $52 Holley fuel pump looks to be a good deal.

Where do you live....?

In fact, why don't you hop over to the introduction section and tell us about yourself.

Hello,

According to what I have been told in the workshop, he does not stop sending gasoline. Anyway I have bought a new Mitsubishi pump for YZF600R that I have found close to home for € 76 and I will adapt it according to the file that Pat sent me.

Well next week will be ready, I hope so ... I'll tell.

I have already made the presentation, this is not very good yet.

Thank you all.
