We had a pretty decent day today, temperature in the 50's (F) and no rain, so when a friend who lives 200 miles away asked if I could go and look at some trailers for him, only 30 miles east of home, I thought....why not take the FJ ???

It's been unbelievably quiet on here for the last 4 or 5 days, so I thought that I'd post some drivel once I got home and put the bike to bed.

The trailer place was in Corby, Northants, which is not too far from one of my favourite stretches of road at the moment, so, I thought I might as well take the scenic route home once I'd looked over the trailers. Anyone with a sharp eye will be able to spot my favourite bit of road, but for those less observant, it's the B664 from Uppingham to Market Harborough.

Now, don't get confused though......this road isn't a great one......but its one of the best of a bad bunch in the flat Midlands area of the UK. It has nothing on the Mid Welsh roads, The Lake District, The Pennines or the North East of England as a whole, but as its close to home, I'll take it. Quite a few nice corners, even a couple of hills and dales and the road surface isn't too bad either (although its pretty bumpy), it's just a pity that there's a quaint little village with 30 mph speed limits every couple of miles.

Something we do have here though, as I've just mentioned, are lots and lots of quaint traditional villages, with such totally British things as Thatched roof's, Red Public Telephone Boxes (although most of them house defibrillator's now, not telephones) and roadside Pubs with walls that are overgrown with Feature Vegetation  :sarcastic:

Far too many of them to stop and take photo's of them all, but I usually try to take a pic in at least one village on every ride. These are from a small place called Rockingham. There's a castle nearby at the top of a hill and the now defunct Rockingham Motor Speedway (US style Oval circuit with infield twisty bits) is just a few miles away

And of course, what would a trip on my FJ be, without the obligatory cheesy selfie......

Apart from the mild weather and relatively empty roads, the only other thing of note on this ride, was the disappearance of my right side pillion footrest - which also happens to be my silencer mounting bolt. Thankfully the header pipes are sturdy and well secured and the silencer didn't come adrift, I just noticed it sitting a little low when I got off the bike and then realised "something was missing" - a spare M10 Brake Caliper mounting bolt, a couple stainless washers and a nylock nut on the rear have sorted that temporarily, but for the time being, I can only take one-legged passengers (and those who only have a left leg, at that) for pillion rides. Hmmmm, maybe I should "lose" the left side passenger peg too  :sarcastic:

Looks like a grand ride!
I went to google earth to check some of the route - it always catches me off guard seeing everyone driving on the opposite side of the road!
Well done, thank you!
