A Very FJ Weekend

I had what can only be described as  a very FJ weekend.
I spent my Saturday cleaning and adding more bits to my 92 Project FJ. Bits like polishing the outer lip of the rear wheel and bolting it up. Adding the rear blinkers and headlight and cleaning/painting a few small miscellaneous pieces.  The project bike is still coming along slowly as postage speeds have slowed dramatically. I will eventually be doing a YZF rear wheel conversion, but not until the bike is running and on the road.

Sunday saw me take my 84 FJ 1200 ( yes 1200, Sparkles has an 89 motor in her) out for a run around my local valley. While it wasn't a long ride ( only about 80km)  it was definitely needed for my well being and the bike really needed to blow the cobwebs put too. Spent the sunday afternoon having a beer and sorting through my variuos parts for the 92.

Nearly a perfect weekend I think

Looks like pretty country. I've never been to Oz.

Do you guys have varmints that run across the road, giving you pause to contemplate the wisdom of riding, and/or soiling yourself, like we do here, in Minnesota? I had a moose run in front of my first FJ, got it slowed down enough so I didn't hit him, but, he blocked out the light for several split seconds.
I pulled off the road, and listened to my knees knock together for 20 minutes or so. It was close.
Deer, Fox, Opossums, Coyotes, Porcupines, Bears, Wolves, trash pandas (raccoons),domestic cows and horses that have slipped out, I've seen them all, and hit most of them with cars, at one time or another.

Hi Ted

Yes, we have the usual imported suspect like cows, sheep, horses, rabbits and fox's. Then we have the local critters. Kangaroos, Emus, Wombats ( imagine a 1' x 1' x 2' boulder slowly making its way across the road). all will do significant damage to a bike and rider. I have have to stop and check my underwear a few times from near misses, and have actually hit a kangaroo, but managed to stay seated on the bike.

Thanks for the report. Love to go sometime. Probably have to rent a bike.

We have made arrangements for fellow international fj'ers to have access to a bike for their stay here in Oz. Just ask Captn Ron, CanDman (Kev),  or Randy from RPM
