Guys, anyone interested in trying different handlebar positions, I found this mob in Clinton, MI 49236.
Have been speaking with the owner (Greg Wilson).
While they do not stock a 41mm collar for the OEM fork legs, they are happy to make them in 41mm.
I am having a set of 43mm units made for my upcoming FZ1 fork upgrade.

Harvy,

These look pretty interesting.  Do you know if they can/will make the "riser" part longer than the one shown?  From that design, you might be able to rotate the clamps so that the "riser is much closer to you and therefore decrease reach as well.

As an ex-Detroiter, I'm pleased to see at least one of the many job-shops is looking for income from other than the suto industry.

I was pitted across from the Apex guys last weekend and spoke at length with Greg, and his racer David Grey. (It's the only way I know how...)

The clip-ons are very nice and as designed can be as tall as 4" (measured with a tape) at the point where the clamp meets the bar. That is only 1/8-1/4" shorter than the stock FJ clamp measured at the same point. Rotating the bars should easily make up the difference.

I asked Greg about building a taller riser and he said that the current riser was as tall as he could go without introducing an unwanted amount of flex. He mentioned that convertabars go higher, but that when he tested longer risers the results were not what he was willing to put his name on.

Both of them seemed like great guys and hung out most of the weekend.

Harvey:

I will see these guys again next weekend and if you decide to go with their bars, I can pick them up at the track and ship them with your forks which will be done (finally) later this week.

Bill that's fantastic..........
Question: when I was emailing Greg, he mentioned that if I buy them from their website, I would need to specifically ask for 43mm clamps and they would be an extra US$30, as they do not have regular runs in that size (I think he was actually saying that they do not have a 43mm version yet), so is Greg now saying that he can have a 43mm set at the track?

If the answer is yes, then my answer is also yes please.

If no, then my answer is still yes please.......order a set for me, have them delivered to you and then ship the whole lot together........sounds like a plan...

Thanks mate

I will give Greg a call Monday Morning, I assumed he already did the 43mm bars, but if not I will try to get them asap. We will work out the details once I know more.

He mentioned talking to someone from Australia and I assumed it was you. Looks like I got one thing right this week. :hi:

Harvy

Bill..... while you are talking to Greg on Monday......ask if the bar ends are threaded to take end weights?.......If not, ask him to include a couple of the end weights he has on the website also please.

I will ask. That is actually one of the things we discussed. I suggested that he sell optional bars threaded to accept standard Yamaha bar end weights.  I will take a set to him for a mock-up. I am running a competitors risers with aluminum bars and without ends I feel less vibration than with the stock bars and weights. The thicker walls of the aluminum bars seem to dampen most of the vibes out.

Harvy

Hmmmmm... interesting, maybe I won't need them then.

lets just wait and see what he says on the weekend after you show him the OEM set.
